Saadho Ashram

An ashram is a tapo bhumi — a consecrated space and a blessed environment for sadhana, which allows the sincere aspirant to experience their own inner silence, sacredness and oneness.

  • Non-residential
  • Temple 10 AM – 7 PM
  • Meditation daily at 6 PM

The inception

The ashram followed fifteen years of waiting. In early 2022 Sri Anish said the time had come to build a Shiva temple, and it rose quickly.

In the lap of the Himalayas

A small forest in Banouru village, near Dharamshala — hidden from the noise, surrounded by lush green trees, with the mountains on one side and the expanse of the valley on the other, beside a flowing Himalayan rivulet.

  • Prayer flags among the trees at the ashram
  • A shrine among the trees at Saadho Ashram
  • The ashram buildings set in the forest
  • A rangoli laid out with stones and a lamp

Swayambhu — the Shiva Mandir

The centre of the ashram, and the reason it exists. A silent space for anyone who wishes to sit, meditate, and simply be in its presence. The temple is open Monday to Saturday, from 10 in the morning until 7 in the evening, and you need no appointment to come.

Before you visit

The ashram is non-residential, so arrange your own stay in or around Dharamshala. Come simply, keep the temple space quiet, and leave time to do nothing in particular — that is most of what the place is for.

“Your passion must be rooted in the soil of your heart, then every action will be the manifestation of just pure love.”
— Gurudev Sri Anish

दान · DAAN

Giving is the highest virtue.

Daan is a path to oneness. Offer what you can, in the spirit of seva.
